The sky, the calendar, and the arguments about both

A reference on where the Western astrological tradition came from, how European seasonal calendars were kept, and what the evidence for each of them is. With a chart tool that shows the same moment in three different reference frames, because that disagreement is the whole story.

Why three frames

A birth chart can be measured against the seasons (the tropical zodiac), against the fixed stars (the sidereal zodiac), or against the constellation the body is literally in front of (the IAU boundaries, drawn up in 1930 for astronomical cataloguing). These give different answers. None of them is a mistake; they are measuring different things.

The popular claim that a thirteenth sign proves everyone's sign is wrong compares the third of those to the first. That comparison is a category error, and it can be shown to be one without taking any position on whether astrology works.

What this site will not do

It will not tell anyone what will happen to them. It has no daily notification, no streak, no subscription, and nothing to unlock. It makes no medical, financial, legal, or relationship-viability claims.

Birth details are never transmitted. Charts are computed in the browser, the site's content security policy forbids the page from opening a connection to anywhere else, and the code that handles birth data is barred by a lint rule from touching the network at all. There is no account, no database, and no server to hold anything.
